The area of interest to the Project concept is approximately 60,000 square meters in size and is located in a strategic position of the urban area, near the large historic center, which was originally a leading19th century train station.
The conceptual design of the installation is characterized by a straight, intermediate street axis, which faces a pedestrian square that alligns with the large antique entrance from Via Ponte alle Mosse, which will be restorated and repaired for access by pedestrians and cyclists.
The rotunda suggests as a fifth visual, a new hotel building, the “AC Hotel”, and will be architecturally characterized in as a point of reference.
The new residential neighborhood, stimulated by the central street and the one perpendicular to it, assumes the characterics of a consolidated city with urban type city blocks, directly facing the streets, cohesive allignments and public spaces with a strong spatial and hierarchical identity support this concept.
The objective of the project is in fact to “construct a city inside a city”, basing the design on a precise and legible road network, on which city blocks face each other, as happens in a consolidated city.
