Sesto Fiorentino |
Set within the context of an integrated development program that will bring together residences, services, and facilities for work and recreation, the plan presented here, which comprises a four-star hotel S. and a multi-functional building (with offices on the upper storeys and commercial spaces on the two lower storeys), represents one of the more prestigious projects in this sector.
Though separated physically as well as functionally, the buildings have been created as the components of a unitary urban and architectural design, and their conception represents the highest level of expression in both formal and technological terms.
Special attention was given to the problem of sustainability and energy conservation, and not only through technology but also through a harmony between public spaces for social interaction and private spaces for work or leisure. Such considerations are fundamental to creating the sort of high-quality urban environment that, together with the tactile and visual pleasure offered, gives an increasingly necessary boost to the quality of day-to-day life.
These two buildings are, thus, so conceived as to contribute to making a swatch of city that looks to the future without forgetting the past. |
